Care Groups
The C.A.R.E. groups at Heritage are designed to foster spiritual growth, support, ministry and interaction in a personal way among each small group. In fact, the name is short for Community, Acceptance, Renewal and Encouragement. The meetings are intentionally low-key and informal, providing a chance for anyone to interact with others in a personal way.
It is our belief that each person should strongly consider participation in Heritage’s C.A.R.E. groups – for with participation comes a small network of supporting people to care for you. There is no way a pastoral staff can meet every individual need, or even be aware of them all. But a group of 8-14 people can more easily and effectively minister to one another, providing follow-up and accountability for the whole group. Each Heritage small group is open not only to church members, but to anyone seeking love and acceptance and a chance to know more about God.
A small group format also provides an opportunity for everyone to be heard and receive ministry – something not possible in a larger worship service. We also know from experience that although each person needs ministry and encouragement, they also need an outlet to do the same for others. Our C.A.R.E. groups provide a place not only to receive, but to give out to the other group members in a meaningful way.
Small groups are not a new thing. The Jewish culture and the budding Christian church to which the Bible was written and played out to was very familiar with the closeness of family units and the need to get together in manageable numbers so everyone’s needs were met.
